Just about every first-rater - and plenty second-raters - of the era, so bursting with brilliant and completely irreconcilable wisdom that you'll be shocked any one book could print them all without spontaneously combusting.
(Somewhere, perhaps, there lies a rejected essay analyzing the publisher's very own cash-cow sleuths, Frank and Joe Hardy.)
